Do I need to be ‘certified’ to teach this syllabus
No you do not need to pass any form of certification. You do need to be capable and experienced enough to guide learners through the examination process.
What support is available for me as a tutor?
SSM will be publishing resources to support tutors. In the meantime, you can contact us for support, particularly if you want to know more about what is required at each stage.
Will this Syllabus restrict my ability to teach other genres and topics?
No you are welcome to go beyond the extend of the syllabus. But please make sure that the bare minimum elements within the syllabus are covered before a student registers for an exam.
How will I know whether a student is ready to sit the exam
This is largely dependent on your experience and academic judgement. Once a learner is competent enough to complete all the elements of the syllabus, you should consider encouraging the learner to sit the exam.
What levels are available in the exams?
There are 8 grades plus pre-grade available for you to study.
